It’s been a while since I did one of these life lately posts.
I haven’t blogged as much as I would have liked to this past month or two, I still have a lot of holidays to post about, and recipe ideas to try and post, and foodie places to visit and share with you!
For the past few weeks I’ve been quite busy filling up my time with things that make ME feel good. And tbh I am loving it.
As much as I would like to get 2 blog posts up a week, it’s just not possible for me to do that with my current routine.
My commute to my current(new) job is significantly longer. Pretty much double the time my old commute took. That means waking up and leaving earlier, and getting home and having dinner later, and then going to bed earlier because of waking up earlier. Uuuuh, hello universe, where is my time going??
Also, throw working late most evenings into the mix and it all adds up to me having less time for me, and Riaan and the pups, and my blog.
I try to draft posts on the tube but I struggle to focus and put words down in that environment. God knows how people revise their study notes in the morning.
So other than doing all the lovely things adulting requires (washing, ironing, cleaning etc) I’ve been spending my evenings playing with the pups, teaching myself to play piano and I’ve been practising my strumming on the guitar(because I couldn’t strum even if my life depended on it).
On the health and fitness side of things I’m going to the gym at least 3 times a week, currently finishing up week 7 of resistance training in Kayla’s BBG programme, I play netball every Wednesday(when it isn’t raining)and we’ve started practising yoga more often.
We are also consciously trying to eat less animal protein. Because it’s good for our health and for the environment. We’ve been doing meat free days at least twice a week for about a year now and then we watched a documentary on Netflix called “What the health” and it kinda got us even more onto the less animal protein bandwagon.
I don’t plan on going vegan, mostly because runny eggs on avocado toast makes me really happy, and also cheese… And chocolate. And ICE CREAM! So my aim is #mostlyvegetarian because if I’m being 100% honest I’ll probably give in to temptation when I have a chance to eat sushi, or poké, or prawns, but other than that, I think I’ll be fine.
June and July passed by so quickly they are kind of a blur in my mind.
So, without diving into my Google maps timeline or scrolling through approximately 1,256,988 dog photos and WhatsApp chat crap, here are the things that livened up the past 2 months.
– A weekend in Jersey with the besties, staying on their boat. We slept way too little, drank way too much and carried on as though we were 22 again. But with more decent alcohol, not the cheapest bottle of wine we could find. LOL.
– 2 awesome bake days with the girls, just look at all of that deliciousness.
– Seeing Green Day live, with Riaan, they were awesome and I was so happy that he decided to join me (even if it was super last minute).
– That awkward dentist appointment and the delicious dinner at Flat Iron that followed (this was pre “What the Health” just bysies).
– A beach day with the pups.
– Fruit picking with Riaan and Flo.
Oh and I almost forgot, a lovely little break in Majorca. There will defo be a post up on that (soon hopefully).
Let’s just pretend my eyes aren’t always closed in photos….
And lastly, I don’t want to be one of *those* people that always talks about their baby and posts a gazillion photo’s on facebook, but since they are such a major part of my life I think a little update on the pups won’t hurt.
Chandler is settling in nicely but he is such a bully, and Phoebe just allows it. She just lets him take her toys. Like all-the-time. It’s probably our fault because when he was really little we stopped her from being too rough with him.
Oh, but when it comes to bed time, then he’s her best friend and he wants to snuggle with her in her bed and she is probably the least impressed pup in the whole world. But sometimes they can be really cute, like this!
Well, I think that’s it for this little catch-up.
Until next time,
